In Penn State’s continuing efforts to keep personally identifiable information (PII) safe and secure, the University has entered into an agreement with Identity Finder, LLC, in order to utilize their software for finding and removing PII from university-owned computers. Penn State faculty and staff are probably familiar with this software, as its use was rolled out to the University community over the past summer. If you are a faculty or staff member not yet introduced to the Identity Finder software, talk with your departmental IT staff to find out when they plan to deploy Identity Finder in your unit.
Penn State’s agreement with Identity Finder doesn’t just cover university-owned computers, though. Penn State employees and students are eligible to license the Identity Finder Home Edition for their personally-owned computers at a substantial discount! Visit Penn State’s Identity Finder portal at this address to verify your eligibility and determine your discount:
For more information on Identity Finder, University faculty and staff can review our PII Scanning page, access the PII Wikispace and sign up for the PII Listserv. Information about the software may be found on the Identity Finder website.
