Penn State’s Office of Information Security was informed of various malicious sites that are attempting to use the current Coronavirus pandemic as bait for their phishing campaigns. As always, their ultimate goal is to either steal your credentials or install malicious software on your machine.

It is important that all Penn State Faculty, Students and Staff be mindful of their sources of information during this trying time. In order to assist in informing the larger community, Johns Hopkins University has put together a map of coronavirus infections and locations around the world. Please visit https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html in order to view the map. OIS has vetted this site and it is free of any malicious content.

As always, if you have any doubt about the legitimacy of an email or wish to report a phishing email, please send it to phishing@psu.edu. The Office of Information Security will be happy to investigate it.

Thank you for your vigilance.
