Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
Multifactor authentication is an extra layer of protection that makes it more difficult for someone else to log in to your Penn State account and gain unauthorized access to your personal information as well as sensitive and confidential Penn State resources and data.
WHY Enroll in MFA?
When you log in to a Penn State resource such as Office 365, LionPATH, WorkLion, or Canvas, you’re first prompted for your Penn State user ID and password. Your user ID and password serve as the first layer of protection. WebAccess uses them to confirm that you are authorized to access the resource you’re logging in to.
If you’re enrolled in MFA, you’re then prompted to provide a second form of authentication. You can use any device you’ve enrolled in MFA (your cellphone, landline, tablet, or hardware token) to confirm your identity and complete the login process.
